MEET Stephanie Desaulniers

I started my knitting supplies business in 2013 and grew to the point where I was partnering with manufacturers and sales rep by 2020. During that time, I saw a need for greater education geared towards "micro-businesses" and specifically, women owned product businesses. I co-founded an Entrepreneur Center in Central PA (still in operation!), and on the tail of shutting down my original business in 2020, started Business by Dezign.

I am known for my real-talk about what it's like running a small product business that only makes a few hundred to thousand dollars a month, scaling when you have no extra money to invest, creating our own rules and trying things that supposedly “don’t work” for makers.

With a focus on real-world advice and timely guidance, I work to support makers of all size regardless of whether your goal is $10,000 or $10,000,000.

MEET the covation center

The Covation Center is an Entrepreneur Resource Center located in Williamsport, PA. Started in 2017 as just a coworking space, the center quickly grew to include workshops, training, and cohort-based coaching for small businesses throughout Pennsylvania.

While the Covation Center works with small businesses of any size, the makers and creatives hold unique challenges and opportunities in Central PA.

The Covation Center is a 501(c)3, funded entirely through programmatic fees, as well as federal and state grants.

The Wilds Cooperative of Pennsylvania (WCO) is a business development program for entrepreneurs in the 13-county Pennsylvania Wilds region.

Managed by the nonprofit PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship, the WCO is free to join and focuses on growing and connecting unique place-based businesses, which are vital to creating vibrant, sustainable communities.

The WCO is the main program through which small businesses and nonprofits engage with the Pennsylvania Wilds brand, networks and platforms. WCO members receive access to branding and marketing tools, networking and education opportunities, new market opportunities via the physical PA Wilds Conservation Shops and online PA Wilds Marketplace at ShopThePAWilds.com, as well as mentorship and referrals to PA’s financial and technical service programs.
